Today i spent the afternoon with Mrs. Holmes who teaches a grade 2 class. When i came into the classroom, Mrs. Picchi ( science teacher ) was teaching the class. She had me organize a few things for her other classes. After that was lunch and I went to the staffroom to eat lunch with Mrs.Holmes. She introduced me to a few of the teachers in the school. Half way threw lunch we went back to her classroom and she tought me how to use the photo copy machine. After lunch was over the grade 2's came back to class and we did some silent reading.After silent reading they did math for an hour. They were working on their money. Most of the children were a bit confused between the differences of a penny or a nickel and a dime. When Mrs. Holmes was done teaching them at the carpet they all had to go to thier desks and do the work in their booklets. I went around and helped any kids who were having problems with it. After that they had snack time and recess. After recess they were called to sit at the carpet to do Fully Alive. In Fully Alive they were learning about how babies are made and where they come from. Of course, like any normal 7 year old, they were laughing and being immature. One of the students got sent back to his desk for acting silly. After fully alive it was home time and they all said a prayer and we went home.

Monday March 19 2007

Today i spent the day with Mrs. Jiordanni. We spent the last 45 mins before lunch with this group of 4 girls. I observed them watching this story called " The Rainbow Fish". They were then asked questions about the story later on. At lunch, which is at 12:05, we just ate for 20 minutes in the guidance room, and then went to the stage where Mrs. Jiordanni aranged a club called "The Games Club" which occurs only at lunch. Kids come in to play games and me and her supervise them. I helped out some of the kids who didnt understand some of the games. After lunch, we went back to her room. I got introduced to this boy in grade 6. We talked about personal things that are confidential and cannot be shared. I played cards with him. After he left it was recess and we just hung out and talked for a bit. After recess we talked a bit more about what some of the students she has to work with and deal with. At 3:30 i left.
